Dr. Michael Jackson, Preaching Pastor

 

Pastor Mike Jackson has a long and significant history with University Boulevard Church of the Nazarene.  In 1970, he began attending our church as a high school senior.  It was here that he discovered a meaningful, personal relationship with Christ. It was here that he met, dated, and married his wife Cheryl (Smith), who has been a part of this congregation since 1963.  It was here that he was called into ministry and began his pastoral career.  Mike served UBNC as youth pastor from 1974-75, then again as associate pastor from 1986-88.  He became our Senior Pastor in August 2000. Our pastor is a graduate of Wolfson High School (1971), Jacksonville University (Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, 1975), and Nazarene Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity, 1978).  He received his Doctor of Ministry degree in Preaching in 2003, from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. Mike and Cheryl have two sons, both of whom reside here in Jacksonville.  Matt is a 2000 graduate of Southern Nazarene University and works for Wells Fargo.  Mark is currently employed by Allied Capital and serves at UBNC as one of our lay youth staff. Pastor Mike's passions are preaching, reading, and golf.  His pastoral experience includes planting churches in North Carolina and Georgia.  He has also served as Senior Pastor of churches in Monroe, North Carolina and Overland Park, Kansas.
